The Paklenica National Park is located on the southern slopes of Velebit and is divided into Velika and Mala Paklenica. The area of this beautiful natural site covers 95 km2, and here you will find the highest peaks of the Velebit mountain range, namely Vaganski vrh (1,757 m) and Sveto brdo (1,753 m). Paklenica is an ideal place for all lovers of hiking where the magical hiking trails which meander throughout the area can be explored. Some of the most indispensable sites on Paklenica are the Velika Paklenica canyon, which is characterised by its unique landscape and famous climbing area, and the Manita cave, which is rich in magnificent cave dripstones and features. The Manita (mad furnace) cave, which can be explored with a guide, also has an interesting fauna with over 50 species of invertebrates. On Paklenica there is also a mountain lodge with various mountaineering shelters at the localities of Ivine vodice, Struge and Vlaški grad. Here you will also find educational paths where you will be able to learn about the attractions and history of various sites in the national park. For example, the educational trail Velika Paklenica is also the most visited trail leading to the mountain lodge.
